Exploring Colombia: Street Art Cartagena

Three Afro Latina women depicted in street art in Cartagena Colombia

In early 2017 I came up on a deal flight to Cartagena, Colombia and quickly hopped on it. Cartagena is naturally beautiful, but the architecture, people, and rich culture secured its place on my bucket list.  I’ve heard the Spanish was different in Colombia and they were NOT lying, but plenty of people speak English and Google translate helped with the rest.  I didn’t get to do everything I wanted to do on that trip, more on that in a separate post, but I did get to go on a tour and see some of the street art that made me want to visit in the first place. Street art is quite plentiful in Cartagena with new instances around every corner; I stopped the driver of a tour I was on to get a few shots. I’m quite sure he was tired of me saying “WAIT, can we stop here for a second!” The colorful and vibrant Colombian street art is just a peek into the culture of the “real” Cartagena, but I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
